A-LBELL product portfolio includes edge/core routing platforms, and wireline broadband access platforms (DSLAMs) and (video) traffic analytics. Alcatel-Lucent, that operates in more than 130 countries, achieved adjusted revenues of Euro 16 billion in 2010. Alcatel-Lucent has one of the largest research, technology and innovation organizations focused on communications — Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs —. Alcatel-Lucent R&D investment represents a combined effort of Euro 2.5 billion. Its patent portfolio includes over 27900 active patents spanning most information and communication technology areas. Alcatel-Lucent’s Bell Labs technology research areas include networked multimedia and content distribution, cloud computing and operating systems, wireless and wireline access networks, self-adaptive/self-organizing networks, cognitive networks as well as scientific research areas such as applied mathematics/statistics, distributed algorithmic, and computer science.

Alcatel-Lucent Bell is a co-founder of the EIFFEL initiative, seed of the Future Internet research initiative in Europe through the FP7 ICT programme. As part of the Future Internet Research and Experimentation (FIRE) initiative, Alcatel-Lucent Bell leads two FIRE STREPs projects on mutli-disciplinary research: the ECODE FP7 Call 2 project and the EULER FP7 Call 5 project. ALB has been prime contractor of many European IST projects such as FP7 EIFFEL, OCEAN, SWIFT, TA2 as well as Internet Science EINS, FP6 MUSE and MUSE2, FP5 ATRIUM, GIANT and TEQUILLA, as well as Eureka projects such as ITEA TBONES, CELTIC TIGER and RUBENS.
