Organization profile: Forschungszentrum Telekommunikation Wien (FTW) is a nationally leading and internationally acclaimed centre for research and development of technologies for future communication systems. Established in 1998, FTW is supported and further developed as a K1-center by the Austrian Government and the City of Vienna. FTW focuses on research and development of theories, algorithms and processes for the intelligent management of future communication systems under real-time conditions. FTW closely cooperates with partners from both academia (e.g., Universities of Technology in Vienna, Graz and Linz) and industry (such as Telekom Austria, Alcatel-Lucent Austria, Nokia Siemens Networks, and Kapsch CarrierCom among others), thereby strengthening and accelerating the process of academic discovery for applications in industry. FTW consists of an international and multi-disciplinary team of about 55 full-time researchers, and has a solid track record of participating in 20 EU projects under FP5, FP6 and FP7.
